Am I too old to start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

You’re probably not as old as you think!
Adults in their 40s, 50s, and beyond can enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You don’t need to be a competitive athlete or have a background in wrestling or martial arts.
At Frequency Martial Arts, we encourage students to focus on their own progress, train intelligently, and develop skills appropriate for their experience and physical abilities.

Do I need to get in shape before starting jiu-jitsu?

No! You don’t need to lose weight, develop strength, or improve your endurance before attending your first class.
Jiu-jitsu itself can help you become more physically active while developing coordination, flexibility, balance, and conditioning.
Everyone starts somewhere. The important thing is getting started.

Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu safe for beginners?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact martial art, so injuries are possible. However, training with experienced coaches, learning proper technique, and practicing with cooperative partners can help manage those risks.
At Frequency Martial Arts, we emphasize controlled training, respect for teammates, personal hygiene, and learning at an appropriate pace.

What should I expect during my first jiu-jitsu class?

Your first experience at Frequency Martial Arts begins with a free one-on-one introductory class.
You’ll meet a coach, learn about our approach to training, and be introduced to fundamental jiu-jitsu movements and techniques.
