Ed LeMonnier started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in August of 2007 with a starting weight of 250 pounds. Since then, he has dropped and kept off 55 pounds as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has become more of a lifestyle rather than simply a form of exercise.
Ed works full-time and has a family who support him in his training. Being a father of two amazing girls, he makes the time to be at their events as well as making the time to train.
When Ed first started training, he didn’t have any aspirations of competing in the various Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments around the area. He simply wanted to train to lose weight and stay in shape.
After a few years of putting in a lot of time on the mats, Ed decided to take the leap and enter the various tournaments to test his game against other practitioners who have never rolled with Ed on the mats. It’s one thing to play your game against teammates who are aware of your “go-to” moves versus someone who has never rolled with you.
Besides making the time to train and compete, Ed also feels that he has been successful by reviewing class and training notes that he has entered within the Robson Moura Jiu Jitsu Tracker.
