I have been doing smoothies for the past year or so, combining different fruits and vegetables to load up on the key nutrients I need. My goal is to get back to 180 through nutrition, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and DDP YOGA.
However, just like training, you can’t be doing the same thing over and over again. So after reading the article, I went out and purchased the ingredients on the list to make several of the smoothies that MacKenzie wrote about.
This morning I made “The Shredder” which is ideal for those who are looking to cut weight while keeping their energy.
I tweaked the original recipe, with my changes in parentheses:
1/2 Cup Frozen Mixed Berries. (1/4 cup ea of Black, Blue and Raspberries)
1/2 Cup Pomegranate juice, unsweetened.
1/2 Cup Cold Water (No Water, I wanted my smoothie thicker)
1 tsp Honey
1 Tbsp Flax Seed
(1 Scoop of Q5 Pure New Zealand Whey Protein – Unflavored)
I placed my fresh berries in the freezer to make my smoothie cold so I wouldn’t have to rely on unfiltered tap water to be my ice. I made the smoothie at 11a and 2.5 hours later, I am not feeling hungry.
On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 =Bad and 5 = Awesome) I give the taste a 5.
The only downside to the smoothie was the Flax Seeds getting stuck in my teeth.
